My picture of the week

This unusual shot of eight members of a Sikh temple up on the roof of their place of worship is the Leicester Mercury's Picture of the Week.

Photographer Mike Sewell created the fascinating image at Leicester's Guru Tegh Bahadur Gurdwara in Evington.

Mike used a Nikon D3 camera and a 14-24mm wide-angled lens to get the shot of the temple members among the solar panels on the roof. He said: "I wanted to show the scale of the project so I placed members of the temple committee along each row of the solar panels.

"By putting Mangal Singh, the president of the committee, at the front it gives a focal point to the image. We got on to the roof by a little hatch on the top floor."
