THE JEWEL OF LEICESTER

I'm on Kohinoor Radio 97.3 FM ("The Jewel of Leicester") between 1200 and 1300 today. Inderjit Gugnani has asked me on to his show, to talk about Inter Faith Week and Leicester Council of Faiths' 25th anniversary. Inderjit is the newly elected Secretary of Leicester Council of Faiths and is also an occasional DJ and presenter on this Punjabi language station.

A moment before we go on air, Inderjit teaches me a greeting in Punjabi, which he says will impress the listeners: Sat Sri Akal (literally: "God is the ultimate truth").

As the interview progresses, Inderjit translates what I've said into Punjabi as we go. The time passes quickly and it's an easy and enjoyable experience. This is the first of three live radio appearances scheduled in the next few days - the only one that doesn't require getting up with the lark!
