FAITHS FORUM EAST MIDLANDS: FUNDING ENDS

Word is going round today that funding for the Faiths Forum for the East Midlands (FFEM) will come to an end on 31 March. I'm sad to hear this. Not to put too fine a point on it, I think it a foolish and destructive decision by the Coalition government. This organisation has barely started its work, hardly begun to exploit the potential of its role. It has a small amount of money left to support local inter faith groups in the region and is in the process of disbursing this in the weeks that remain. FFEM has a seat on the 25-member Core Reference Group of the Regional Equality and Diversity Partnership (REDP). This will leave a hole which we'll have to address promptly.

1 comment:

  1. Who has been supporting FFEM?
Would local religious groups step in and fund it?
And (sorry George, but you do know lots & lots) does this mean that the government is not funding any of the regional faith forums?
