Leicester Speaks (5)

At Leicester City Council New Walk Centre, A Block, this morning. Meeting with Parmjit Basra (Project Officer, Leicester Adult Skills and Learning Service) and Max Boden (Leicestershire Chamber of Commerce) to iron out details of the Big Launch of Leicester Speaks (AKA Local Democracy Week). It's just seven days away!

Clare questions the wisdom of appointing me (Joint) Chair of Leicester Speaks, since after 25 years in this city, I still have trouble making myself understood to shop assistants in bakeries and newsagents and to bus drivers. She reckons the best thing they could do at the launch event in Humberston Gate is to have me beamed up onto the big telly screen, with subtitles. Otherwise we run the risk of having the event renamed "Leicester Speaks - Double Dutch!"
