A day of celebrating women the world over
Many of the city's different communities came together for a day of fun and thinking about the big issues facing women.
The International Women's Day event was held at the Highfields Centre on Saturday, with lots of activities, talks and workshops, as well as entertainment and food.
Organiser Faizah Essat said: "It was brilliant and there were a lot of amazing performances. The whole community came together.
"One highlight was the food – we had Indian, Somali, Filipino, Moroccan, West Indian and all sorts.
"The idea of the day was just to celebrate women and their engagement in the community, but we also had talks about the serious issues facing women, such as objectification and sexual abuse.
"We had a lot of very inspirational talks.
"This is the second year we've had the event and we'd love for it to keep going. It's very good for bringing the communities together."The event included stalls, poetry, dance, yoga and fashion shows.
